found wood
“found wood” is a serie of sculptures that initiated back in Asturias in 2017 by recovering small branches that rivers had carried from the mountains down to the Cantábrico sea and where washed back to the beach by the currents. wood is grouped and tied with rope often recovered from the beach as well. The series embrace Méxican influence by bringing other objects, color through small cuttings, gold and silver. wood was recovered from beaches in Oaxaca coast up to Baja California. the series ended in Amsterdam with “Kijkduin” the most extreme pieces of the series: there is no color, no intervention, nothing but wood that survived the Pacific sea bound by a thick black horizon of disbelieve.
Artwork is named after the beach the wood was recovered from.
